Antoine Zivelonghi, LES HISTOIRES CRÉENT L'HISTOIRE, 10.10.2020
KarteNoire2502, founded in 2019 by Mor Dovrat, Fanny Krähenbühl, Samuel Müller, and Antoine Zivelonghi in Biel/Bienne, has become a central platform for local performing artists. Initially a collective, KarteNoire2502 facilitates continuous artistic exploration and regular engagement with the public.

In its first three years, we hosted events in various venues around Biel/Bienne, including La Voirie, Nebia Poche, Format26, Juraplatz, and Espace Libre Visarte, as well as public spaces in the old town.

Since 2022, under the artistic direction of Mor Dovrat, KarteNoire2502 has transformed into a platform for local performing artists. Our philosophy is that artistic exploration begins on stage, not through writing dossiers. This belief drives our approach, in which artists are given a week to delve into a common theme and create short performances ranging from 7 to 20 minutes. Our performances provide a trampoline for new artistic experiments, many of which evolved into full-length productions.

Since 2023, KarteNoire2502 has been working in partnership with INCUBO, an experimental live arts development platform based at the BIOTOP Theatre, Biel/Bienne. Each September, during the INCUBO season, we open the creative kitchen of the Bieler free scene to the public and present short performances created during a week-long residency. The 2025 program will feature 12 performances by 14 local artists over three themed evenings.

KarteNoire2502 continues to be a dynamic force in the performing arts, reflecting the cultural and linguistic diversity of Biel/Bienne.

EDITION 21 : INDIVIDUUM

Isabelle Freymond, Pascale Güdel & Julien Mégroz, Claudia Nuara, Christoff Raphaël Mortagne

11.09.2025 | 19:30

INDIVIDUUM - Latin for ‘indivisible’ - once meant that which could not be broken down: first the atom, then the soul, and finally the human being, seen as a unit closed in on itself. But the atom has been split - and with it, everything has changed: bombs, energy, quantum physics, computers, the internet, and now machines capable of anticipating our decisions and desires. Perhaps our idea of the “self” is also an illusion. We still speak of the individual as an autonomous entity, but today many identities are carefully staged constructions: algorithms show us what we are supposed to desire, belonging becomes exclusion - an “us” against a “them”. The indivisible has become a dividing line.

INDIVIDUUM invites artists not to take the self too seriously - to lose themselves between invention and imitation, to question familiar forms and see what remains when the whole falls apart.

EDITION 22 : IT’S ABOUT TIME

Nicole Berndt-Caccivio, Vita Malahova, Nelson Schaub, Antoine Zivelonghi

12.09.2025 | 19:30

‘It's about time’ is what we say with impatience, irony, or relief when something is long overdue. It's not really about time, but about expectation. We talk about time as a resource that can be managed: wasted, saved, optimised. But do we really understand what time is? Science tells us that it doesn't follow a straight line: it can expand, overlap, change according to relationships. And yet our lives are still structured by schedules, deadlines and routines. Even ‘being in the present’ becomes a discipline - with the promise of a better future. So what is time? A measure? A construct? Or are we, ourselves, made of time - in a perpetual state of becoming?

With IT'S ABOUT TIME, we're inviting artists to question the order of time. To stretch it, interrupt it, play with expectations - and discover new rhythms.

EDITION 23 :  EROS

Emilie Bisetti & Dany Digler, Beth Dillon & Gregory Stauffer, Johannes Dullin, Rosine Ponti

14.09.2025 | 17:00

Eros is one of the oldest deities in Greek mythology - not the god of love, but a primordial force that draws things together. A magnetic tension between atoms, bodies and ideas. Eros doesn't create harmony, but upheaval - creation and destruction at the same time. Later, he becomes the son of Aphrodite, then is transformed into Cupid with his harmless arrows. In Plato, Eros becomes desire, in the monotheistic religions a threat. In psychoanalysis, it's a symptom; in pop culture, a commodity. Desire is everywhere - but difficult to embrace. The rules have changed: touch is political, seduction ambiguous.

We invite artists to encounter Eros in all its contradictions: as force and fantasy, as myth and taboo. To explore what attracts us - and what makes us explode. To move through desire, shame and inspiration - and to take the -ism out of eroticism.
