Antoine Zivelonghi, LES HISTOIRES CRÉENT L'HISTOIRE, 10.10.2020
KarteNoire2502, founded in 2019 by Mor Dovrat, Fanny Krähenbühl, Samuel Müller, and Antoine Zivelonghi in Biel/Bienne, has become a central platform for local performing artists. Initially a collective, KarteNoire2502 facilitates continuous artistic exploration and regular engagement with the public.

In its first three years, we hosted events in various venues around Biel/Bienne, including La Voirie, Nebia Poche, Format26, Juraplatz, and Espace Libre Visarte, as well as public spaces in the old town.

Since 2022, under the artistic direction of Mor Dovrat, KarteNoire2502 has transformed into a platform for local performing artists. Our philosophy is that artistic exploration begins on stage, not through writing dossiers. This belief drives our approach, in which artists are given a week to delve into a common theme and create short performances ranging from 7 to 20 minutes. Our performances provide a trampoline for new artistic experiments, many of which evolved into full-length productions.

Since 2023, KarteNoire2502 has been working in partnership with INCUBO, an experimental live arts development platform based at the BIOTOP Theatre, Biel/Bienne. Each September, during the INCUBO season, we open the creative kitchen of the Bieler free scene to the public and present short performances created during a week-long residency. The 2024 program will feature 12 performances by 16 local artists over three themed evenings.

KarteNoire2502 continues to be a dynamic force in the performing arts, reflecting the cultural and linguistic diversity of Biel/Bienne.

DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE

Christa Barrett

Dafni Stefanou

Hanna Röhrich & Jasmin Kiranoglu

Samuel Müller

Originally from "Alice in Wonderland", going down "the rabbit hole" means letting yourself go on an adventure into the unknown. It has since become a pop culture trope, a euphemism for psychedelic trips and a derogatory term for algorithmic mechanisms designed to get people hooked on social networks. Whether it's a rite of passage or a "scroll-hole", this expression refers to experiencing an altered time and space, where uncertainty reigns. In this edition, we invite artists to explore these states of transformation, loss of time and nonsense.

Edition #19 - 19. September

WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?

CHAD

Dorian Kaufeisen & Amina Kampichler

Emilia Catalfamo

Lukas Larcher

Love is often celebrated as the driving force of life, but is it really what drives us? Or is it our brain chemistry that drives us to bond for survival? Love can also be a tool of manipulation, used to divide and conquer. With the theme "What's Love Got to Do with It" KarteNoire2502 invites artists to examine love's complex power play: its biological foundations, its role in societal structures and its potential as a mechanism of influence and control.

Edition #20 - 20. September

COMME IL FAUT

Clea Eden & Gael Chapuis

Fiona Vuilleumier

Cie Frau Trapp (Matteo Frau & Mina Trapp)

Nicole Berndt-Caccivio

What does it mean to live “comme il faut", in a world increasingly subject to the imperatives of enjoyment and self-fulfilment? This edition invites artists to question social norms, examining the invisible rules that govern our behaviour and the forces that drive us to conform (or to distinguish ourselves from one another). Do we really live authentically, or do we simply play roles dictated sometimes by tradition, sometimes by fashion? And is it at all possible to tell the difference?
