KarteNoire2502, founded in 2019 by Mor Dovrat, Fanny Krähenbühl, Samuel Müller, and Antoine Zivelonghi in Biel/Bienne, has become a central platform for local performing artists. Initially a collective, KarteNoire2502 facilitates continuous artistic exploration and regular engagement with the public.

In its first three years, we hosted events in various venues around Biel/Bienne, including La Voirie, Nebia Poche, Format26, Juraplatz, and Espace Libre Visarte, as well as public spaces in the old town.

Since 2022, under the artistic direction of Mor Dovrat, KarteNoire2502 has transformed into a platform for local performing artists. Our philosophy is that artistic exploration begins on stage, not through writing dossiers. This belief drives our approach, in which artists are given a week to delve into a common theme and create short performances ranging from 7 to 20 minutes. Our performances provide a trampoline for new artistic experiments, many of which evolved into full-length productions.

Since 2023, KarteNoire2502 has been working in partnership with INCUBO, an experimental live arts development platform based at the BIOTOP Theatre, Biel/Bienne. Each September, during the INCUBO season, we open the creative kitchen of the Bieler free scene to the public and present short performances created during a week-long residency. The 2025 program will feature 12 performances by 14 local artists over three themed evenings.

KarteNoire2502 continues to be a dynamic force in the performing arts, reflecting the cultural and linguistic diversity of Biel/Bienne.

Edition 24 : BRAIN FREEZE

16.09 / 19:30

with Aleko & Maxtor, Victor Poltier, Marc Ugolini & HARZ

If we lick the sweet, cold ice cream too quickly, suddenly, the body slams on the emergency brake and the initial pleasure turns against itself. With this edition, Brain Freeze, artists are invited to explore seduction, overstimulation, addiction and that human tendency to keep doing what hurts us, as long as the pleasure seems worth it. They will explore the gap between our desires and our ability to satisfy them, questioning a world that encourages consumption whilst teaching us to ignore our own limits.

Edition 25 : DAS NICHTS

17.09 / 19:30

with Branca / Cie ChamploO, GrÄ—tÄ— ŠmitaitÄ—, Matthias Rüttimann & Sylvia Gwerder, Marion Rothhaar & Hotcha & Nico Delpy

Nothingness makes us feel uneasy. We rush to fill this void with stories, systems, beliefs and noise, as if nothingness were intolerable. Perhaps what troubles us most is not the void, but the possibility that, beneath all our structures, there is no ultimate foundation to hold them together. ‘Das Nichts’ invites artists to engage with emptiness itself: the unease of non-being, the impossibility of imagining nothingness, and that strange human need to constantly replace emptiness with meaning.

Edition 26 : UNDER PRESSURE

18.09 / 19:30

with Beth Dillon & Gregory Stauffer, Mor Dovrat & Samuel Müller, Clea Eden & Fanny Krähenbühl, Priska Elmiger

Pressure is constant. We often only notice it when something starts to give way: when an exhausted body collapses, when a strained relationship breaks down, when an unstable regime crumbles. Between resilience and exhaustion, discipline and overload, pressure takes on a political dimension by becoming the measure of what society considers bearable, productive or excessive. Under Pressure invites artists to explore our relationship with pressure as a constant negotiation of our limits, confronting those unstable, invisible boundaries that separate our comfort zone from our breaking point.

LAB RATS
In 2026, we’re launching a new workshop format led by local artists, for local artists. Through a series of three-day labs, we dive into experimental theatre, dance, and music practices—sharing creative tools, opening artistic questions, and exploring possibilities for new works and methodologies.

LAB RATS offers performing artists a space to expand their practice by developing and facilitating workshop models, while participants deepen their own work: testing new materials and processes, observing one another’s approaches, and allowing fresh ideas to emerge.

LAB RATS #1

MOR DOVRAT & NICA BERNDT-CACCIVIO

24-26.04.2026

10:00 - 17:00

Aimed at artists who generate their own material (especially solo practitioners and independant collectives), the lab explores practices of lingering in the unknown. Creation begins with infinite potential. Rather than rushing to resolve the sometimes disorienting freedom of possibilities that exist before an idea takes form, we explore receptive states, giving space to what emerges when we let go of control in the creative process.

Over 3 days we share concrete tools for strengthening presence and sustaining creative processes without collapsing into doubt, self-judgement or over‑determination. Body, breath and voice exercises are used to enter this threshold, generating rich inner landscapes. The process unfolds in a shared space of attention and embodiment. What happens to material when it is witnessed? When does the private become relational? How does form crystallise under the gaze of others?

Artistes:

Nica Berndt Caccivio is a dancer, choreographer and osteopath with over 40 years of experience, working closely with the nervous system and facilitating strategies for self‑regulation.

Mor Dovrat works as a solo performer and collaborative artist for over 18 years, embracing existential paradoxes through dark humor and embodied presence.

LAB RATS #2
WÆXE
06.-07.06.2026
+ open discussion session 03.06.2026

DESCRIPTION

Step into the universe of WÆXE, where bodies meet algorithms, where movement becomes image, sound, signal and digital matter.
This workshop invites participants to enter a playful zone between dance and code. We will explore how the body can speak with machines, how a camera can read a gesture, how a movement can become data, texture, rhythm, shadow or light.
There will be sweat, attention, improvisation — and the strange language of the machine:
taka-taka-taka, lines of code, loops, signals, pixels, glitches, repetitions.
Not as something cold or distant, but as a new partner to move with.

Participants can choose their own way into the process: more oriented toward body / dance / performance, or more toward code / technology / image. No need to master both. The workshop is built as a shared space where dancers and technologists can meet, exchange roles, and create together. Through movement exercises, simple demonstrations and hands-on experiments, we will build short interactive sketches combining bodies, camera, open-source coding tools, images, video and sound.

No previous coding experience is needed.

(We are not machine after all…)
